Here we have the latest automata edition from the Fourteen Balls Toy Company It's called " The Eternal Optimist " designed and made by me ( Matt Smith ) . It's constructed from my usual range of materials , Douglas fir , lime wood , Maple , brass Delrin , stainless steel and Dynemma string and finished in liquitex paint . The mechanism is fairly complicated and includes a clutch and a rotating turntable . The model is quite big being  250 mm x 120 mm x 340mm The Dodo's are 150 mm high.
