The Green ball , named after those green balls you put in the washing machine that seem to vanish into thin air , Actually the ball is bronze as the green balls proved to be too bouncy.          The machine designed by Paul Spooner has a complicated action . The ball starts off in the copper basin and drops through a pair of doors , rolling down the ramp on the front of the model and into a lift that deposits the ball in the washing machine. Meanwhile Trudy polishes the machine vigorously , as soon as the balls arrives in the washing machine it vibrates and after a spin cycle the door opens . The ball bounces down the steps and ends up in the copper basin ( usually ) and the whole cycle begins again. I should add that Trudy gets rather excited as the washing machine door opens.                                                                                                                                    The machine is 220mm x 140mm x 320mm high.                                                                            Materials include Douglas fir, copper , brass , lime , yew and Tufnol.                                            Finished in October 1997 , an edition of 34.
